GARY DOLINSKY – GUITAR, CELTIC BOUZOUKI, MANDOLIN, MELODEON, VOCALS, ANGLO-CONCERTINA

Formerly, of the critically acclaimed folk-duo COMPASS ROSE, Gary has performed extensively around the New England coffeehouse circuit both solo and in acoustic folk bands.  He has shared the stage with premier national artists, including CHRIS SMITHER, GREG BROWN, and BILL STAINES at some of the most respected acoustic venues such as CLUB PASSIM – Cambridge, THE ME & THEE – Marblehead, CAFE LENA – Saratoga Springs, JOHNNY D’s – Somerville, CHRISTOPHER’S – Cambridge, THE LINDEN TREE – Wakefield and was also featured on local Boston radio including WUMB & WERS.  Gary’s musical influences range from 60’s POP, COUNTRY & BLUEGRASS, BLUES and TRADITIONAL FOLK to CONTEMPORARY SINGER-SONGWRITERS.  This diverse background is reflected in his choice of songs, instrumental accompaniments, as well, as in his creative ORIGINAL COMPOSITIONS.  Listening to Gary you will hear a TRADITIONAL IRISH MELODY, a CONTEMPORARY FOLK SONG or a classic BEATLES TUNE highlighting his unique musical artistry.  The result is more than simply a mix of styles it’s a fusion – a blend of traditional, contemporary and original music.

TRISH DECAPRIO – VIOLIN, PERCUSSION ACCESSORIES, VOCALS

Trish studied violin/fiddle from an early age with instructors ARLEEN GREENE, CLAY HOENER, MARTHA EDWARDS, and MARSHA HARBISON. As an adult she has studied voice with ELEANOR WRIGLEY, JULIE DOUGHERTY, PENNY NICHOLS and ALLISON TRICK.  At the age of 6 she took to the stage singing and dancing in the Spring and Christmas Revels at SANDERS THEATER.  From that point on Trish was hooked on performing.  Music has lead Trish on a path that she has followed from elementary school through college and beyond.  In most recent years the journey had been with a variety of acoustic bands:  AS THE CROW FLIES, THE GOODHUES BAND, BLACKBIRD, TMP, BLACK WATER MOON, O’CAROLAN ETC., THE SWEET JANES to the present with WILD MAPLE.  Some highlights for Trish – taking CATHIE RYAN’S master class at Boston College Gaelic Roots and later singing with Cathie at CLUB PASSIM, in Cambridge.  Also, while with The Goodhues Band, opening for DAVE MALLETT in Millinocket, ME, for OLD SCHOOL FREIGHT TRAIN at THE CROSSROADS COFFEEHOUSE in N. Andover, MA, for J.D. HUTCHINSON at the FRONT ROOM in Athens, Ohio, and featuring at THE ME & THEE COFFEEHOUSE Fresh Voices Night, Marblehead, MA.

As a kid, there was lots of music around our house and I was drawn to all of it!  My grandmother sang her favorite songs from Lawrence Welk’s t.v. show while I helped her with chores.  Mom often had John Latchford’s Irish hour playing on the weekend, and car rides with dad included singing along, in harmony, to Jim Sands’ or Wolf Man Jack’s radio shows.  We lived in a diverse, ethnic melting pot city.  Beyond the music influences of my family, t.v., and radio I was exposed to many different music styles from all over the world – in school, on the city streets and in theaters.  Music has always moved me and spoken to me deeply.  It brings me great joy when a song is upbeat and rhythmic so that you can’t help but move to it!  I love a well crafted song that tells a story, that provokes imagination and emotion, or that cleverly shares wisdom.  Music is simply something I have to be part of, whether I’m listening at home, in the car, as an audience member at a show, jamming with some friends, or on stage performing.  Shawn Colvin wrote, “…if there were no music, then I would not get through, I don’t know why, I know these things, but I do.”  I’ve been inspired to compose my own music and lyrics by many I admire from prominent artists to fellow band mates and colleagues on the music scene.  Writing songs, like performing music, is work and it’s also tremendous fun!

STEVE STRAIGHT – ACOUSTIC BASS, VOCALS

Steve was playing in his first band the night those guys broke into the DNC headquarters at Watergate. Since then, he’s played with a ton of bands from WEDDING and BLUES to CLASSIC ROCK, FOLK, MUSICAL THEATER, and “hey, I’m having a party, you guys wanna play?” bands.  He has also tried his hand at community theater, voice-over work, and 12 years as a full-time function DJ. (Please don’t ask him to play “Old Time Rock and Roll.” Just, please.) ACOUSTIC FOLK MUSIC is where he has always wanted to be.

Growing up, my idols were Athol Guy (the Seekers), Paul McCartney, and whoever that was playing upright bass in the dark behind Peter, Paul and Mary. With Wild Maple, I’m finally in the band I always wanted to be in.”
