WELCOME & THANK YOU…

WELCOME to the new folks who have joined the WM email list and to those who are staying informed about all things WILDMAPELIAN via FACEBOOK and INSTAGRAM.  We very much appreciate the support we receive from friends, fans, audiences members, fellow musicians and venues!

A few short weeks ago, everything looked one way – “normal”.  Now, like the inevitable effects of the tide shifting sand there has been significant change.

Each generation of ancestors have faced many challenges.  We know from history we are infinitely more powerful when we work together as a society for the common good of all.

That is what we will do, and that is how we will see this  through. We are heartened by the acts of charity and selflessness we see all around us.

Our time apart will be short and pass (by Cathie Ryan) – The day will come when we will entertain you in person again.  In the meantime, please know that we remain grateful for your support and friendship.

Stay well and stay in touch!  – Steve, Gary & Trish

THANK YOU to Bob Moore and to the welcoming audience on 3/6 – including all the accomplished poets & musicians at FIRST FRIDAY COFFEEHOUSE in Exeter, NH. WM felt very welcome and very appreciated – it was a fun, special Friday night of socializing, music & poems!  There were too many who performed to recall all the names – here are a few of the many gifted folks who shared their talents on 3/6 –  CHECK OUT MUSICIANS CHRIS GEORGE, ROSEMARY MARSHALL STAPLES, BOB MOORE, and CHECK OUT POETS – ED PACHT  who wrote WM a beautiful poem on the spot (see below for an excerpt from Ed’s poem) ,  PETER CRAIG who shared works from his new book BY PROCESS OF ILLUMINATION   (available on amazon.com)   and HOLLY DASCHBACH  who shared her poem “THE OWL ADMONISHES ME”  (see below for an excerpt from Holly’s poem) .   We look forward to crossing paths with all of you again!

OH WHAT A NIGHT!  We had an amazing time on Saturday 3/7 @  THE BULL RUN  in SHIRLEY, MA for  DON WHITE’S BIRTHDAY SHOW   THANK YOU DON for inviting WM to participate in your special birthday extravaganza!  Folks, make sure to get your tickets early when this event comes around again next year!  Don changes it up every year… and you can be sure that it will always be a night featuring Don’s lively energy, great stories, fantastic music, fun & laughter, talented guest performers and surprises THANK YOU to all the amazing staff at the Bull Run for making us feel welcome and for the fantastic food!  THANK YOU to the sound and lighting specialists STEVE & ALEX for helping WM look and sound good.  We are also very GRATEFUL to perform with the amazing, talented Chris Thompson Lively and wailin’ Jack Phelan!  AND… GRATEFUL for our WM friends/fans who joined us for this special event!  You’re the best!

DONATIONS…

WM donates a portion of proceeds from all shows & CD sales to The Farmers Footprint. THANKS TO YOU, we raised $200 in 2019!  We hope you’ll join us as we continue our support in 2020.  So far in 2020 you’ve helped us donate another $100 to the FFP!

From FFP website:  “REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE focuses on rebuilding organic matter and living biodiversity in soil, which produces increasingly nutrient-dense food year after year — while rapidly sequestering excess atmospheric carbon underground to REVERSE CLIMATE CHANGE.”

Support our planet’s health – this in-turn supports all human health.
POEM EXCERPTS…

THE OWL ADMONISHES ME – An excerpt from Holly Daschbach’s poem

“And while you stand and listen to my words
and gaze at the interlaced bare fingered branches of the beech overhead
a cheetah has chased down a gazelle
a mudskipper has made it to a new puddle
a species has slipped into extinction

And if you can stand here knowing this in your marrow and breathe it all in
feel the fear of the gazelle
the triumph of the cheetah
the deep tearing sorrow of being the last ever of your kind
you will be finally fully present”

HOME RIGHT NOW an excerpt from Ed Pacht’s poem
“Pluckin’, bowin’,
Strummin’, singin’
Home right now –
Jesus came that day
Said he’d like to stay
Cook pot cookin’
Cookin’ a lot
That’s all that’s there
In that old cook pot
On the river shore
Breeze through sunlit trees
Crossin’ the river on the way home”
The full poem HOME RIGHT NOW by Ed Pacht will be included in WM’S new original CD – currently in the works – to be released fall 2020
